Beautiful and simple furniture by Another Country.
Our designs are archetypal, calling on the familiar and unpretentious forms of British Country kitchen style, Shaker, traditional Scandinavian and Japanese woodwork. It’s the spirit and functionality of these honest forms of furniture that we endeavor to re-interpret for a modern customer.

More friends! This time it’s Matt and Melissa Alexander of HollerDesign. Matt and Melissa are two southerners who set up a beautiful and cozy workshop on Matt’s family farm in rural Tennessee. From there, the two focus on creating regionally influenced objects embodying a core of southern values, including resourcefulness, self-reliance and ingenuity.
Matt and Melissa are currently working on a prototype of the FarmBench pictured above. A beautiful, custom made piece of furniture crafted from reclaimed barn wood with environmentally friendly lacquer finish for contrast.

Marilyn Neuhart is the author of a new 2-volume, 800 page book called The Story of Eames Furniture. The book reveals in unparalleled detail how Charles and Ray Eames worked to create the landmark furniture designs we all know and love. Marilyn and her husband John have both worked with the Eames from the 1950s. The always awesome Gestalten.tv interviews Marilyn and John who give their personal accounts of the stories, biographies, and over 2,500 images that make up the book.
Having been in close proximity to Charles and Ray Eames as well as the members of the Eames Office and their patron manufacturers for almost 30 years, the Neuharts had the extraordinary opportunity to absorb their stories. At their Los Angeles home, they tell the tale of working with Charles Eames in Gestalten.tv’s latest look behind the Eames.

They began their voyage in their apartment, using a homemade machine to process cacao beans. Over time they cultivated their creation, sourcing beans from family farms in Madagascar, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, and Ecuador. This is so totally awesome. 27 year old graphic designer and prop maker Harrison Krix of Volpin Props was commissioned to make a replica of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo’s (Daft Punk) iconic gold helmet.
Its been a long road. Seventeen months, countless hours, multiple dead ends, hundreds of lessons learned, and one helmet made.
Check out the entire process:
